Katy is a city of about 11,775 people and is located in Fort Bend, Harris and Waller counties within the Houston metropolitan area. The town is named for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad that ran through Katy in the 1800's. Katy was once a major sugar cane and rice producer. Katy is home to Igloo cooperation that manufactures cooking and portable refrigeration products. There are many famous residents of Katy such as actor Billy Bob Thorton and actress Renee Zellweger.
